Welcome to December’s edition of Rundale.

Requests and to-do lists seem to be relentless these days, as everyone looks to fulfil obligations and tie up tasks before calling curtains on the year. With the holiday season coming upon us, the usual confluence of festive escape and hibernation has begun to creep in.

You might be preparing to take a break, spend more time with friends and loved ones, or simply carry on as usual. Whatever your plans between now and 2025, we hope you have a good time – on your terms and in your own time.

Rundale has two articles to tide you over to the new year:

Calum McGeown, Sinéad Sheehan, Jennie C. Stephens and John Barry demonstrate how higher education is a key site in the fight for climate justice, which has sparked the timely emergence of the Climate Justice Universities Union.

Tomás Ó Loingsigh talked to Indigenous and campesino communities in Colombia engaged in land struggles with (and demanding environmental justice from) the Irish packaging manufacturer Smurfit WestRock’s (formerly Smurfit Kappa).

We’ll be back in January with a new suite of pieces.

In the meantime, please get in touch if you have any contribution ideas you’d like to pitch.
